What you need
to apply

These are the items most applicants need. Some vary depending on your program or background. We've flagged those so you know what to expect.

Transcripts

Everyone needs them. Freshmen submit high school records; transfer and graduate applicants submit transcripts from every college attended. Unofficial copies are accepted to start the review. Official transcripts are required only if you're admitted.

Application fee

$20 for domestic applicants, $30 for international. Domestic undergraduate fees are currently waived for Summer and Fall 2026. Fees are non-refundable once your application is submitted.

Proof of a prior degree or diploma

Freshmen and adult applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent. Transfer applicants need documented college credits. Graduate applicants must hold an accredited bachelor's degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Your transcripts typically cover this.

Test scores

ACT or SAT scores are required for most freshman applicants. Adult learners and some others can substitute Accuplacer placement scores instead. Most graduate programs no longer require GRE or GMAT, but some do. Your program's admissions page will tell you what applies to you.

English proficiency scores

Required for most international applicants. TOEFL, IELTS, and the Duolingo English Test are all accepted. Applicants from designated English-speaking countries, or who completed their schooling in English, are generally exempt. See the international requirements page for the full exemption list and minimum scores.

Supporting documents

Many graduate programs require additional materials: a statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, or a writing sample. International applicants also need a financial support form and a credential evaluation from a NACES-accredited agency. Check your specific program page for what's required.
