High school transcript and GPA

We review your academic record to understand your preparation and potential. A minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale is expected, though we consider the full context of your achievements. You’re not just a number.

How to apply in four steps

Set up your profile

Visit the application portal and create your account with your email and password. You'll use this to track your application status throughout the process.

Gather and submit your documents

Upload your official transcripts, test scores, and any other required materials through the application portal. Official transcripts must come directly from your institution. Student-submitted copies are not accepted.

Review and complete your application

Go through each section of your application to make sure your personal information, academic history, and program of interest are accurate and complete before moving forward.

Submit and check your status

Once you've submitted your application, you can monitor your admissions decision and next steps through the Privateer Enrollment Center. We’re available to answer any questions along the way.

You can apply online through the LSU New Orleans application portal. Freshman applicants need to submit high school transcripts, meet a minimum GPA requirement, and complete a high school core curriculum. Test scores may be required depending on your situation, though some applicants can substitute Accuplacer placement scores instead. Check the admissions page for current fee information and any available waivers.

Deadlines vary by term. There is a priority deadline for scholarship and grant consideration, and a separate final application deadline for enrollment. Applying by the priority deadline gives you the best chance at scholarship consideration. Check the deadlines page for the most current dates.

Cost of attendance depends on whether you are an in-state or out-of-state student, and whether you live on or off campus. Estimates cover tuition, fees, books, room and board, transportation, and personal expenses. A net cost calculator is available to help estimate your actual out-of-pocket cost after financial aid is applied.

LSU New Orleans offers merit-based institutional scholarships for new, incoming transfer students based on GPA. Additional funding opportunities are available through federal financial aid, and all students are strongly encouraged to complete the FAFSA.
