First time freshmen

Students over the age of 21, who have not attempted college credit after high school graduation, may qualify for admission under the first-time freshmen requirements established by the Louisiana Board of Regents.

Transfers

Those who have attempted and earned college credit are eligible to apply as transfer students. Must have completed 24+ hours of college/non-remedial coursework (including Math and English) with GPA of 2.25+

How to apply in four steps

Set up your profile

Visit the application portal and create your account with your email and password. You'll use this to track your application status throughout the process.

Gather and submit your documents

Upload your official transcripts, test scores, and any other required materials through the application portal. Official transcripts must come directly from your institution. Student-submitted copies are not accepted.

Review and complete your application

Go through each section of your application to make sure your personal information, academic history, and program of interest are accurate and complete before moving forward.

Submit and check your status

Once you've submitted your application, you can monitor your admissions decision and next steps through the Privateer Enrollment Center. We’re available to answer any questions along the way.

Applying is straightforward and free. All domestic undergraduate application fees are currently waived. You'll apply online and submit official transcripts from every institution you've attended. If you have fewer than 24 transferable college hours, your high school transcript is also required. LSU New Orleans may admit freshmen with a minimum 2.5 GPA on the Louisiana Core 4 curriculum, and test scores are not required for admission consideration. Once you've applied, check your portal for your admission status and any next steps.

LSU New Orleans offers Spring, Summer, and Fall enrollment.Priority scholarship and grant deadlines are earlier, so it pays to apply as soon as possible. The full academic calendar, including first and last days of class, drop/add periods, refund dates, and holiday breaks, is available through the Office of the Registrar.

Most institutional scholarships are awarded automatically based on your academic record when you apply. No separate scholarship application is required. Scholarships are available for new incoming students enrolling in Summer or Fall. Transfer students should submit transcripts as early as possible for consideration. Beyond scholarships, LSU New Orleans offers grants, loans, work-study, and other forms of aid. Seventy-seven percent of students receive some form of financial assistance each year.

LSU New Orleans offers more than 40 undergraduate degree programs across fields including business, engineering, education, the arts, sciences, and more. Graduate programs are also available through the Graduate School. If you need flexibility, several programs are offered fully online, including degrees in Engineering Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Philosophy.

LSU New Orleans offers multiple summer enrollment options, including a full summer term and shorter accelerated sessions. This can be a great fit if you want to make faster progress toward your degree or get started before the fall. Summer classes are available on campus and online. Check the academic calendar for exact start dates, registration windows, and deadlines for each summer session.
