The office that handles tuition and fee payment.
The academic units of LSU New Orleans that offer academic degree programs; administered by deans and staffed by faculty members. The type of training and the degree anticipated determine the student’s choice of college.
Houses and maintains all academic records pertaining to our students and alumni.
4+1 program Accelerated Degree program: It is a program that offers the opportunity for outstanding students to begin earning credit toward a master’s degree while still pursuing undergraduate studies. It allows students to save both time and money through an accelerated course of study.
Academic Advisor: It is the person who will assist in making academic decisions and answering any related questions.
Bachelor's degree: It is an undergraduate academic degree awarded by colleges or universities upon completion of a course of study.
Bursar: The office that handles tuition and fee payment.
Credit Hour: a way of measuring how much credit a student receives for attending a course which corresponds to the hours per week spent in a course.
Dean: It is the head of a college or university department.
Dual Enrollment: a program that allows high school students to be enrolled in high school and college courses simultaneously.
FAFSA: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, a form required to be considered for federal student loans, work-study, grants, and some scholarships.
Federal Work-Study: a federally funded program that provides part-time employment (on and off campus) to undergraduate and graduate students while enrolled in school.
FERPA: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Acts protects the confidentiality of students’ educational records.
Full-Time Status: an undergraduate student who takes at least 12 credit hours per term.
GPA: Grade point average, a cumulative number that represents your entire academic performance.
Office of Disability services: The University authority on accommodations for students with disabilities.
Registrar: Houses and maintains all academic records pertaining to our students and alumni.
Scholarships: it is a payment made to support a student’s education, awarded on basis of academic or other achievements.
SGA: Student Government Association
Student ID: it is a student identification document that includes your status and student ID number. With this document you can use your privateer bucks to purchase food and for other purposes.
Syllabus: it is a document that outlines responsibilities, expectations, and any important information regarding a specific course.
Tuition: these are the fees charged for instruction and university related services.
Transcript: an official record of a student’s work, showing courses taken and grades achieved.
