Overview
The American Chemical Society certifies the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Classes stay small, with about 10 students for every faculty member.
You can join a faculty research lab as early as your first year and earn credit for it (CHEM 3094). Some students also hold paid research jobs.
Concentrations
- Biochemistry: chemical processes inside cells
- Forensic chemistry: analysis and crime lab work
Internships
You can earn course credit for internships. See the department page for details and past partners.
Honors in Chemistry
Strong students can graduate with honors by writing and defending a senior thesis. The catalog lists the GPA you need to qualify.
Start your master's early
Strong undergraduates can take up to 12 hours of graduate courses that count toward both the bachelor's and the master's. The Graduate School runs the accelerated master's program and reviews applications.
