THE AGNES LEVINE MEMORIAL AWARD is made possible by a donation to LSU New Orleans (LSU New Orleans) by Agnes' husband Mr. Michael Levine. A native of Uganda and of the Jewish faith, Agnes Levine passed away in the early 1990's and was survived by Michael and their three children. To honor the wishes of the donor family, the purposes of the award are twofold: 1) To honor Agnes Levine; and 2) To award students whose academic and/or artistic work suggests an abiding interest in diverse or diasporic individuals or groups, communities, or individuals, such as, but not limited to, Native Americans, African Americans, Africans, Jews, Asians Americans, Armenians, Berbers, Kurds, Palestinians, Turkic peoples, etc. Therefore students should indicate within the Ambassador Award application (essays or short answer sections) any studies or experience with diverse or diasporic individuals or groups. No student may receive more than one Agnes Levine Award. All Global Ambassador Award applicants will automatically be considered for an Agnes Levine Award.
