Application

Contact the student exchange office at your own university to verify that your university is an ISEP or MICEFA exchange partner institution. In order to be eligible, you must be in good standing at your home institution, have the required English language proficiency (see below), and have a Grade Point Average (GPA) equivalent to a 2.25 as calculated by LSU New Orleans Office of International Admissions.

Note: this is separate from the Admission Application, which you will fill out in a later step.

Go to the ISEP or MICEFA websites to fill out their application, submitting all materials being requested with the application.

Once communication with ISEP or MICEFA is finalized, then apply for admission to LSU New Orleans. This is the general online application form for all potential students at LSU New Orleans (domestic and international). 

Once you have been admitted to LSU New Orleans, we will send your local program coordinator your official letter of admission and form DS-2019, which you will need to apply for your student visa. The type of visa you will have is J1: Exchange visitor (college/university student).Click here to obtain a visa.

Once admitted, you will receive an email from the Office of Information Technology (IT) with instructions about how to set up your new @uno.edu email account and access to LSU New Orleans systems (Workday, Canvas, campus wifi, etc.). If you have not received your account information, contact the Help Desk at [email protected] or call +1 504 280-4357 (HELP).

Submit either the compliance form or the online waiver (LSU New Orleans login required) to Student Health Services. Learn more about immunization compliance.

Once you have your LSU New Orleans login information, and during the appropriate enrollment periods, you will be able to start trying to enroll in classes by searching the desired semester's course bulletin. Be sure that you are in touch with the study abroad office regarding your preferred courses and any challenges you may face. 

It is important that you are aware of all important dates at LSU New Orleans. Most can be found on LSU New Orleans Registrar's Web Page. There is also an event calendar that is helpful.

As soon as you have your visa, start planning your arrival and departure. Be sure to pay close attention to the LSU New Orleans academic calendar, as well as the orientation date for new international students (which you are required to attend). Also, you should make sure not to schedule to return to your home country until after you are finished with your final exams. You should also consider any official move-in and move-out dates of your housing facility. If you need to move in or move out before or after these dates, ask the facility about their policy regarding special arrangements.

Once you have booked your travel, remember to send us your arrival itinerary at least 2 weeks in advance so we can be aware of your travels.
