The spring 2020 Jazz at the Sandbar concert series kicks off March 11 when Grammy-nominated singer Rene Marie joins jazz studies students from the University of New Orleans on stage at The Cove at 7 p.m. The series, established by emeritus faculty member Ellis Marsalis in 1990, pairs seasoned professional musicians with UNO jazz students on the bandstand in a nightclub environment.
Jazz at the Sandbar is presented each Wednesday night for eight weeks during the fall and spring semesters and features a different renowned jazz artist each week. The spring 2020 series runs from March 11 through April 29 with all shows starting at 7 p.m.
Admission is free for UNO faculty and staff with proper ID. For all other guests, admission is $10.
The Sandbar is located inside the The Cove on the western edge of the University of New Orleans campus and offers a friendly atmosphere, food and libations.
