Career Fair at the University of New Orleans takes place Tuesday, October 2 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Sen. Ted Hickey Ballroom of the University Center.
The University of New Orleans Office of Career Services is gearing up to host its next Career Fair, which takes place Tuesday, October 2 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Sen. Ted Hickey Ballroom of the University Center. Employers there will be recruiting talent for internships, part-time work and full-time positions.
Previous events have featured as many as 130 employers, many of whom conducted interviews onsite. Alongside national and international companies like IBM, Chevron, GE and Entergy, the event also draws local employers such as the Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group and Hancock Whitney Bank.
Industries represented in previous job fair events on campus have ranged from hospitality, retail and food service to insurance, real estate, financial services, nonprofits, utilities and government agencies.
According to Celyn Boykin, director of UNO’s Office of Career Services, the level of student participation at the 2017 Career Fair was the highest ever, with between 600 and 700 students attending. Students from all disciplines and class levels participate.
“Many employers interviewed our students on site and some were hired the same day,” said Boykin.
Students are encouraged to attend a Career Fair orientation workshop to ensure they are fully prepared for the event. Two orientation workshops are offered: Wednesday, September 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, September 25 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Both workshops take place in room 208 of the University Center.
