  • Counseling Services
    Counseling Services attempts to meet the needs of LSU New Orleans students with regard to their individual personal development. Concerns about interpersonal relationships, depression, anxiety, feelings of inadequacy, loneliness, sexual identity and orientation, academics, career, and mental illness are difficulties that any individual may encounter. The primary function of the counseling services is to assist students with such difficulties in a professional, unbiased, objective way to promote personal growth in self-awareness, self-management, self-confidence, and interpersonal skills. All services are confidential within the limits of the law.

  • Career Services
    Career Services provides a range of services for current LSU New Orleans students and alumni to assist with identifying, clarifying and pursuing their career goals. Center staff are aware of and can assist students in addressing some of the challenges faced by LGBTQIQ individuals in the workplace.

    Vision Statement: The Office of Diversity Affairs must be a vital and catalyzing force in the university’s quest for local, national, and international recognition as one of the United States’ great metropolitan public universities.     UNITY organizes educational events and fund raisers to create a dialogue with the larger student body regarding LGBTQIQ issues and works to support and campaign for policies that protect the rights of LGBTQIQ identified individuals.     Mission Statement: "The Women’s Center serves the women students, faculty, and staff of LSU New Orleans and women throughout the city of New Orleans.   • NO/AIDS Task Force
    For over 26 years, NO/AIDS Task Force has been providing hope, care and compassion to thousands of men, women and families affected by HIV & AIDS. The Task Force acknowledges that the complications of HIV-disease are not just physical, but mental, emotional and social as well. That is why our agency offers a full spectrum of care at low to no cost, including services such as: an HIV medical clinic, food pantry, home delivered meals, housing, mental health, peer support and many others. NO/AIDS also remains committed to the health of our entire community and reaches over 20,000 each year through HIV prevention education efforts. 

  • LGBT Community Center of New Orleans
    The LGBT Community Center of New Orleans promotes the vitality and well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community through continuous support of health, culture and social needs, advocacy, provision of information, resources and referrals, and advancement of diversity, understanding, and acceptance.

  • Bisexual Resource Center
    The Bisexual Resource Center envisions a world where love is celebrated, regardless of sexual orientation or gender expression. Because bisexuals today are still misunderstood, marginalized and discriminated against, the BRC is committed to providing support to the bisexual community and raising public awareness about bisexuality and bisexual people. The BRC uses bisexual as an umbrella term for people who recognize and honor their potential for sexual and emotional attraction to more than one gender (pansexual, fluid, omnisexual, queer, and all other free-identifiers).

  • Campus Pride Network
    Campus Pride represents the only national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBT students. The organization is a volunteer-driven network "for" and "by" student leaders. The primary objective of Campus Pride is to develop necessary resources, programs and services to support LGBT and ally students on college campuses across the United States.

  • CenterLink
    The Community of LGBT Centers exists to support the development of strong, sustainable LGBT community centers and to build a unified center movement.

  • Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere (COLAGE)
    COLAGE is a national movement of children, youth, and adults with one or more lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and/or queer (LGBTQIQ) parent/s. COLAGE builds community and works toward social justice through youth empowerment, leadership development, education, and advocacy.

  • Family Equality Council 
    The Family Equality Council works to ensure equality for LGBTQIQ families by building community, changing hearts and minds, and advancing social justice for all families. 

  • Gender Education and Advocacy (GEA)
    A national organization focused on the needs, issues and concerns of gender variant people in human society. GEA seeks to educate and advocate, not only for ourselves and others like us, but for all human beings who suffer from gender-based oppression in all of its many forms. 

  • GLBT National Help Center
    The Center provides free and confidential telephone and e-mail peer-counseling, information and local resources for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth.

    “The Human Rights Campaign is America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.”

  • It Gets Better Project
    "ItGetsBetterProject.com is a place where young people who are gay, lesbian, bi, or trans can see with their own eyes how love and happiness can be a reality in their future. It’s a place where LGBT adults can share the stories of their lives, and straight allies can add their names in solidarity and help spread our message of hope."

  • Lambda 10
    The Lambda 10 Project - National Clearinghouse for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Fraternity & Sorority Issues works to heighten the visibility of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender members of the college fraternity by serving as a clearinghouse for educational resources and educational materials related to sexual orientation and gender identity/expression as it pertains to the fraternity/sorority experience.

  • National Association of Multicultural Education (NAME)
    NAME celebrates cultural and ethnic diversity as a national strength that enriches a society and rejects the view that diversity threatens the fabric of a society. NAME believes that multicultural education promotes equity for all regardless of culture, ethnicity, race, language, age, gender, sexual orientation, belief system or exceptionality.

  • National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE)
    NCTE is a national social justice organization devoted to ending discrimination and violence against transgender people through education and advocacy on national issues of importance to transgender people. NCTE facilitates a strong and clear voice for transgender equality in the nation’s capital and around the country. 

  • National Gay and Lesbian Task Force
    “The mission of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is to build the grassroots power of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. ...As part of a broader social justice movement, we work to create a nation that respects the diversity of human expression and identity and creates opportunity for all.”

  • OUTforWork

    OFW functions as a complimentary component in the total educational experience of LGBT students, primarily in the development, evaluation, initiation, and implementation of career plans and opportunities. OFW’s programs, resources, and services provide assistance to students in the cultivation and enhancement of skills to explore career options, master job search techniques and strategies, and research employment opportunities.

  • Parents and Friends of Lesbian and Gays (PFLAG )

    PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity. 

    Transgender Health Program (Vancouver Coastal Health)
    Based in British Columbia, Canada, the Transgender Health Program aims to "improve the transgender community's access to quality health and social care." The Website features an abundance of articles and other sources of information for transgender individuals and their families and friends.

  • The Trevor Project 
    The Trevor Project is a national organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQIQ) youth.

  • American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)
    The ACLU works to extend rights to segments of our population that have traditionally been denied their rights, including people of color, women, lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people, prisoners and people with disabilities. 

  • Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation
    “The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) amplifies the voice of the LGBT community by empowering real people to share their stories, holding the media accountable for the words and images they present, and helping grassroots organizations communicate effectively. By ensuring that the stories of LGBT people are heard through the media, GLAAD promotes understanding, increases acceptance, and advances equality.” 

  • Lambda Legal
    Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work. 

  • The National Center for Lesbian Rights
    A non-profit, public interest law firm that advocates for equitable public policies affecting LGBTQIQ community, provides free legal assistance to LGBTQIQ clients and their legal advocates, and conducts community education on LGBTQIQ legal issues.
