Middlesex University aims to be a global university committed to meeting the needs and ambitions of a culturally and internationally diverse range of students by providing challenging academic programs underpinned by innovative research, scholarship and professional practice.
Middlesex University is one of the largest universities in the UK. It teaches more international students than any other UK university. As well as offering a wide and flexible range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, it is also the world leader in Work Based Learning and has major contracts with the NHS and the TTA to train nurses, midwives and teachers.
Innovation and enterprise at Middlesex has been widely recognized. The University is the recipient of three Queen's Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education for Work Based Learning, Technology Education and the Flood Hazard Research Centre. In 2003 it gained the highly prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise for international trade. In winning such an award, Middlesex was judged 'by a thorough and demanding process to be, quite simply, among the best of UK companies'.
Programs and Modules (Courses)
Middlesex teaches most of its degree programs via year long modules worth 30 Middlesex credits (15 ECTS). Students are entitled to take 120 Middlesex credits (60 ECTS, 32 US Credit Hours) in a year (with a limit of 60 Middlesex credits at post graduate level). The university encourages students to choose to follow one degree program and from the same year of study (e.g. BA International Business, 4 modules from 2nd year).This provides the student with a coherent program and avoids the risk of timetable clashes.

There are a very limited number of modules available for single semester exchanges. Students may only apply for a single semester visit if they wish to study in one of the following areas:
- Fine Art (note that applicants for Undergraduate Fine Art may ONLY apply for an exchange in Semester 2)
- Politics
- Development
- Dance (open to selected partners only)
- Nursing (open to selected partners only)

*A student may choose modules (courses) from different programs but students are to be advised that this may present problems. A student might not be accepted into classes outside of their subject area and there may be a timetable clash that prevents a student from taking his/her first 4 choices. For this reason, we ask students to please list two more modules than they think they need, in the event that their first choices are not approved or not available to them.
We strongly advise students to choose a single program, and note that changing modules at the start of the year may be difficult.

Middlesex offers self-catering housing for nearly 1500 students across seven halls of residence. This accommodation ranges from study bedrooms with in suite facilities, to traditional halls with shared kitchens and bathrooms. Note that a place in one of the university residences is not guaranteed and students may only apply once they have been issued with an MU ID number. For more information, please click here.
Timetable:
The academic week begins on Monday and finishes on Friday. The daily timetable ranges from 9am until 7pm for Undergraduate students and 9am until 9pm for Postgraduate students.

Learning Agreements/Certificate of Attendance
It is the student’s responsibility to bring with them the Learning Agreement and the Certificate of Attendance. It is also their responsibility to get the forms signed.
Deadlines: Applications must be submitted by May 1 of the year the student wishes to go abroad.
Note: If you go to Middlesex as a LSU New Orleans exchange student, the study abroad fees listed on their web site, except housing, typically do not apply; also, do not send an application directly to Middlesex unless you want to enroll directly and not be a LSU New Orleans student.

Cyril Taylor Memorial Scholarship
Apply for the Cyril Taylor Memorial Scholarship available to study in the United Kingdom for programs in the 2020 fall semester and the 2020-2021 academic year, the gift will fund multiple scholarships this year and be administered by FEA. Applications for scholarships for 2020-2021 programs open November 11.
