Bursar’s Office FAQs

  • How do I read my fee bill?

    Go to your Workday account:

    • Click Menu at the top left
    • Select Finances
    • Looking at account activity under the finance page, the “total account balance” is the total cost of your tuition and fees for the semester (plus any outstanding charges from previous semesters).
    • The “due now” amount is the portion of the fee bill you are responsible for paying now, after scholarships, aid, or other payments.
    • If your due now balance is zero, that means you have paid your tuition or you have aid that is going to cover the balance.
    • If you click “view statement” you can see an itemized list of tuition and fees, when they were posted and when they are due.
  • I have a past due balance and can't register. What can I do?

If you can get your past due balance down to $700 or below, your registration hold will be lifted so you can register.

  • Why do I have a hold on my account?

You can have a hold for new student onboarding tasks, past due balances, advising holds, etc. Select “Academics” from the menu. “My Holds” will be displayed in the center of the screen with description and resolution instructions.

  • What happens if I miss a payment deadline?

If you miss a payment deadline, a $150 late fee will be assessed on your account.

  • What if I have anticipated payments coming in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, etc., and they are not showing up in my account?

Students who have anticipated payments should rest assured that those payments will be applied to their account once the University receives them. Students will not be withdrawn from classes while they await those payments. Please ensure you've completed all action items associated with your financial aid so that it can disburse to your account in a timely manner.

  • How do I sign up for a payment plan?

All students can enroll in an extended payment plan option. This splits the payments into three payments (Summer term) or four payments for the semester. For more information, visit: Payments | LSU New Orleans.

  • How do I opt in/out of Follett?

You can find the information here: uno.edu/follett-access. You must do this by the deadlines listed in the form.  The opt-out deadline is before classes start. You can opt back in during the opt-in period. Please check the Follett Access page for the specific opt-in and opt-out dates.

Follett Access Waivers are not posted to workday account until after the opt-in period ends each semester. Usually this is several weeks into the semester.

You can make partial payments in the make a payment screen. If you are trying to pay your tuition before your Follett fees have been removed, please deduct the Follett total from your balance.

Reminder – you are opting out or back in for your entire semester schedule. You cannot opt out and opt in of individual courses.

  • I opted out of Follett but I still have the fee on my account. What do I do?

Please subtract the Follett amount from your due now balance to find out your correct total. You can pay the tuition amount minus the Follett fee as a partial payment in the payment screen. A waiver will be placed on your account after we receive the list of opt-outs from Follett.

  • How do I Opt Out of the Parking Decal?

Click on your ID picture on the top right in workday

Click “view profile” (please note if you are also a student worker or employee, you will need to select your student account on the right side of the screen)

Click “personal” in the blue menu bar on the left

Click “additional data” from the menu

Click the “edit” button under “opt out of parking decal”

Please list your reasons in the comment section so we can better understand the needs of our student population. For example, "I ride a bike" "I take the bus" "I don't drive" etc.

  • Why am I being charged a non-resident fee? How do I change my residency status?

Applications for reclassification to resident status must be filed by the 14th calendar day after classes begin to allow changes to be reflected on the fee bill. Applicants filing immediately prior to registration or up to the 14th day must be prepared to pay the non-resident fee and wait to be refunded if the application is approved. The appeal form is located here.

  • How do I view my 1098-t?

In Workday, go to “menu,” “finances” and on the right-hand side, under “my account,” you can find the view/print 1098-t link. Please note that tax documents are generally available around the 3rd or 4th week of January. Please make sure you've consented to an electronic 1098-t (pg. 5 in the New Student Onboarding guide)

  • How do I inquire about my fee bill?

Contact [email protected] or stop by the Privateer Enrollment Center in the Library

  • I withdrew from my courses, do I get a reduction?

Students who resign from the university or decrease their course load within established timelines for the semester as indicated in the published calendar will be eligible for a full or partial tuition reduction. Eligible students may only receive a reduction on tuition and self-generated fees. Other fees are non-refundable. Students do not receive a tuition reduction for a decrease in course load after the 100% date.

After the 100% date, students must completely withdraw to receive any type of reduction. After the 100% date and between the 50% date, the refund is 50% of tuition only (fees are nonrefundable) for withdrawing from the university (this means students must withdraw from ALL of their courses).  Individual classes are not refundable during the 50% withdrawal period.

    * During the 100% refund period, between the first day of class and the 100% end date, an administrative fee of $50 and registration fee are non-refundable and assessed to the student.
