Undergraduate Programs

Bachelor of Science in Accounting

The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, providing study in financial and managerial accounting, auditing, taxation, and accounting systems. The program prepares students for careers in public, industrial, and not-for-profit accounting, and financial management. The program also provides a foundation for entrance into graduate programs in business and accounting and is excellent preparation for the study of law. There are approximately 500 undergraduate accounting and pre-accounting majors enrolled.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

In today’s ever-changing economy, jobs and the need for certain talents evolve quickly. The successful businessperson, therefore, has to be a knowledgeable generalist as well as a field-specific expert. LSU New Orleans’s Bachelor of Science degree in business administration will train you to be both.

Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management

The BS in Healthcare Management has been carefully designed to meet and exceed the national accreditation standards of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the national certification standards of the Association of University Programs in Healthcare Administration (AUPHA).

Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Administration

Our undergraduate degree program provides students with the foundations of a business that will enable them to pursue a broad spectrum of opportunities.

Bachelor of Science in Marketing

The Department of Marketing and Management offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, preparing students for careers in both the private and public sectors as well as graduate programs in business and marketing. The degree program provides students with a thorough study in marketing with an emphasis on the development of skills in a variety of marketing areas study such as consumer behavior, strategy, and research.

Accelerated Master’s Degree

The Accelerated Master’s (AM) Degree offers the opportunity for outstanding students to begin earning credit toward a master's degree while still pursuing undergraduate studies. Our accelerated programs allow a student to complete a master's in less time and at a lower-than-average cost. The main feature of the program is that, while completing their undergraduate study, students may earn between 6 to 12 semester hours of graduate credit that counts as dual credit for both the baccalaureate and master’s degrees. The number of credit hours varies from program to program.

Graduate Programs

Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Financial Economics

The Department of Economics and Finance at LSU New Orleans offers a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Financial Economics. The innovative curriculum incorporates both contemporary economic and financial analysis into a program that reflects the growing integration of these two disciplines. It is one of the first programs to formally respond to the substantial demand for financial economists in research and policy-making positions in universities, businesses, and government.

Master of Business Administration (Executive Track)

Seeking an advanced degree is a serious commitment of time and effort. At LSU New Orleans, we believe that our Executive track MBA program can leverage your time and effort to their fullest advantage. Consider the following attributes that are the foundation of our Executive track MBA – putting theory into practice and quality.

Master of Business Administration (Traditional Track)

The MBA Program, fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), is designed to prepare students for superior managerial positions in both the private and public sectors. Emphasis is placed on the development of analytical abilities and written and oral communication skills. Students are provided with broad preparation in business administration while being allowed to focus on a variety of concentrations in specific business areas. A student can pursue their MBA Degree on a full-time basis or a part-time basis.

Master of Science in Accounting

This program prepares students for careers in various areas of professional accounting. It also helps persons already employed in accounting positions to advance in their careers. The program also serves as a foundation for more advanced studies, such as the Ph.D. degree. For students desiring a greater specialization in accounting information systems auditing, or finance, concentrations in these areas are offered within the Master of Science in Accounting program.

Master of Science in Finance

The Master of Science in Finance provides a focused education that puts you on pace with the constantly evolving global economy. Our faculty works to provide students with a broad and deep exposure to finance and financial markets. We focus on skills that are valued by employers such as quantitative methods, economics, financial reporting and analysis, corporate finance, equity investments, fixed income, derivatives, alternative investments, and portfolio management.

Master of Science in Healthcare Management (Traditional Track)

Career health care professionals who want to improve their prospects for advancement, network with other healthcare professionals, and improve their understanding of this dynamic industry can study business fundamentals in the healthcare industry. This program is designed to prepare health care professionals to prosper in the 21st century. The curriculum provides students with a unique blend of knowledge that bridges the world of health care and the world of finance, marketing, accounting, and management.

Master of Science in Tax Accounting

This program is a specialized Master of Science degree program that is designed to provide a high degree of concentration in the tax area. The taxation degree provides in-depth technical and comprehensive study for persons planning careers in taxation accounting or who are already employed in this area and wish to expand their knowledge of the field. The taxation program also serves as a foundation for more advanced studies, such as the Ph.D. degree.

Master of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management (Traditional Track, On-Campus)

Master of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management (Executive Track, Online)

Certification Programs

Design & Operation of High Performing Organizations for Leaders

The course is an introduction to the design and operation of high-performing, innovative, sustainable, and resilient businesses, hospitals, schools, and government agencies.

Human Capital Management (HCM) Certificate

The Human Capital Management (HCM) certificate provides students with the "strategic" foundation to advance HCM to new heights within your organization, and to advance themselves within the evolving human resources profession. This non-credit, non-degree certificate easily transfers from the classroom to the workplace. Get the knowledge and skills you need to help boost your job performance and advance your career opportunities.

Human Capital Management: Setting the Direction & Facilitating Achievement

This is a special half-day version of the Human Capital Management certificate program offered by the College of Business at LSU New Orleans.

International Trade Certificate

This course is a practical approach to the import and export business. It will be extremely useful for those interested in starting their own international business or working for international organizations/companies, and students interested in working with organizations involved in international trade.

Internal Auditing Program

The Department of Accounting at LSU New Orleans offers the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Endorsed Internal Auditing Program. The program is offered at only a few universities in the United States. Upon completion of the program, IIA will issue a certificate of completion. 

Other Programs

Pre-CPA Program

LSU New Orleans's Accounting Department provides a CPA preparation program to enable individuals who have degrees in areas other than accounting to obtain the necessary coursework to qualify to take the CPA exam. The program requires 27 hours of accounting courses and 24 hours of business courses.

Minor in Accounting

Students may earn a minor in accounting by completing 19 hours of accounting courses with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better in all accounting courses attempted. Twelve hours of these accounting courses must be completed at LSU New Orleans with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.

Minor in Business Administration

Non-business students wishing to minor in Business Administration may do so by completing the following courses with a minimum letter grade of C or better in each course.

Minor in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Administration

Students must complete 18 credit hours in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Administration with a letter grade of C or better in all courses as follows: Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism 2000 and choose six credit hours from HRT 2020, 2030, 2050, and 2070. In addition, students must have nine credit hours at the 3000 or 4000 level.
